Surprisingly, people hardly ever connect the fashion with the legendary funk artist, George Clinton. But over the weekend at Paris Fashion Week, all the stylish folks got “under a groove.”

At The Champs-Élysées, this Sunday at the Sacai show, designer Chitose Abe’s created a limited edition theme using George Clinton’s “One Nation” flag.

Clinton lent artwork from his band Funkadelic’s One Nation, Under a Groove album for their T-shirt line.

The real Funk doctor sat on the front row next to super model, Naomi Campbell. The two laughed the night away with another special guest. Campbell invited her dad.

Totally Buggin’: Stacey Dash Arrested For Attacking Her Husband

Recent headlines haven’t been too kind for once-popular actress Stacey Dash, and unfortunately the latest isn’t flattering at all in the least bit. TMZ now reports that Dash was arrested over the weekend on a domestic violence situation that went down in her Florida home, and sadly she now has a “celebrity mugshot” that’s far from the Hollywood glam she’s probably accustomed to.

Dash, known for her role in the classic ’90s teen movie Clueless, was hit with the charges in Pasco County after an alleged altercation with her husband, Jeffrey Marty, that was wild enough to leave marks on his body. Cops arrived at their home in the evening hours on Sunday (September 29) after responding to a domestic dispute between the married couple. TMZ was able to grab body cam video of the situation as well, which shows Dash being question by the arresting officer as he fires off with a round of questions. She confirms her Bronx origins, starring role in Clueless and the fact that she was taking a “break” from acting and was most recently a correspondent for FOX. Sources close to her tell TMZ that Dash was acting out of defense after Marty attempted to choke her. As of the last update, she’s currently being held on $500 USD bail and may be under a 24-hour “cooling-off” hold — it’s reportedly common for local authorities to handle these types of situations that way.

The couple has been married for a little over a year following a secluded wedding ceremony. This is Stacey’s fourth marriage, and may unfortunately be her next divorce.

Prayers up, Stacey! We’ll try to keep you all updated on the most up-to-date information as this story progresses. Head to TMZ to see the full body cam video.

Filth Flarn Filth: Eddie Murphy Regrets His Humor From ‘Raw’

Source: Gary Gershoff / Getty

As Eddie Murphy prepares to return to the comedic stage he is looking back at his iconic career. He now admits he is ashamed of some of his prior work.

Page Six is reporting that the Coming To America actor isn’t a fan of one of his most beloved projects. While promoting his forthcoming Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name the Brooklyn native was recently asked by The New York Times about Raw. In the stand-up special he poked fun at women, gays and more. He made it clear the movie isn’t his proudest moment. “I was a young guy processing a broken heart, you know, kind of an a**hole” he admitted.

He also infamously made light of the AIDS epidemic but later apologized in 1996. “I deeply regret any pain all this has caused,” he said in a formal press release. “Just like the rest of the world, I am more educated about AIDS in 1996 than I was in 1981. I think it is unfair to take the words of a misinformed 21-year-old and apply them to an informed 35-year-old man. I know how serious an issue AIDS is the world over. I know that AIDS isn’t funny. It’s 1996 and I’m a lot smarter about AIDS now.”

Dolemite Is My Name premieres on Netflix on October 25.

52-year old actress Stacey Dash was arrested in Florida on a domestic battery charge for allegedly pushing and slapping her husband across the face following a verbal argument. In footage obtained by TMZ, Dash asks the arresting officer, “Am I being arrested?” Then the officer continued asking an onslaught of questions about where she lives, where she works, what movies did she appear in and were any of them current TV shows. “I was in a film called Clueless, ” the actress responds. “Are you in any shows right now?” the officer continues.

Ruby Rose Undergoes Emergency Surgery Due to Stunts on ‘Batwoman’ Set

Batwoman star Ruby Rose took to Instagram ahead of her show’s October 6 premiere to share with fans a video of herself undergoing emergency back surgery.

The reason for the urgent procedure? Two herniated discs caused by intense stunt work, she explained; an injury that was risking severing her spinal cord and paralyzing her. It’s worth noting that this was a pre-existing injury, not one that Rose suffered while working on Batwoman – the actress previously revealed on Twitter in January 2018 “for the past few years (decade) I’ve been dealing with a spine issue,” for which she underwent back surgery last year.

Rose decided to break her silence after fans noticed her surgery scar and started inquiring about it. After chronic pain and numbness led her to seek solutions, doctors discovered the herniated discs. She also thanked her doctor for “allowing me to keep working and doing what I love. I am forever in your debt.”

This is not the first time Rose has undergone serious surgery. Last January, Rose revealed she was wheelchair-bound after going through a back procedure for her spinal issues, according to People.

Ruby was chosen as the lead for the forthcoming Batwoman series in August 2018. The show premieres on the CW on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. ET.

#EbonyOwes Saga Continues, Former Employees File 2nd Class Action Lawsuit For Their Dough

Source: WENN / WENN

Iconic African-American magazine Ebony is back in the news after former employees accuse the publication of unpaid wages and fraud.

According to The Root, the historic publication is once again headed back to court after former employees claimed that they were unpaid for work, laid off unfairly and that their 401k was not company-matched per the employment agreement.

The complaint, which was filed on Wednesday (Sept. 25), names Ebony Media Operations LLC; CVG Group LLC; Michael Gibson, CVG Group co-founder and chairman; and Elizabeth Burnett, vice president of operations of CVG Group, as defendants and accuses them of “betraying the magazine’s employees and readers” by “engaging in a consistent pattern and practice of laying off their staff and failing to pay them their final wages.” Additionally, Ebony is accused of failing to reimburse employees for work-related expenses or pay out their unused vacation days.

The lawsuit also alleges that Ebony committed fraud by failing to match 401k contributions, in addition to failing to reimburse employees for payroll deductions that were never actually invested into 401k accounts.

The lawsuit comes just one week after Linda Johnson-Rice, daughter of the magazine’s founder decided to step down effective immediately from the magazine’s board claiming that the direction of the magazine did not go according to what she had envisioned.

“When I agreed to continue on with the companies after the sale to the CVG Group, I did so hopeful that the Ebony and Jet brands would continue to be a dominant and positive force in the African American community,” Johnson Rice said in the email obtained by the Chicago Tribune. “Obviously, despite my hopes, the last three years did not result in what I envisioned when the transition occurred, and because of that, I have made the decision to move on.”

Although the reasoning behind the resignation is unclear, what is clear is that the publication has been having staffing and legal issues since the company was bought by Texas investment group CVG in 2016. As previously reported, in 2017 freelancers and former employees started the viral hashtag #EbonyOwes before filing a lawsuit for unpaid wages. The employees were awarded nearly $80,000 in 2018 and Ebony laid off its entire digital staff before going on a print hiatus in the Spring of this year.

Grand Closing: Forever 21 Files For Bankruptcy

Source: NurPhoto / Getty

It seems that the popularity of online shopping has claimed another brick and mortar based business as victim. Forever 21 is in deep financial trouble.

High Snobiety is reporting that the fashion retailer has officially filed for bankruptcy. According to The Financial Times the brand plans to restructure their organization in an effort to minimize loss. This includes shutting down up to 300 of their stores across the world. According to the documents filed the Los Angeles, California based company is listing assets and liabilities between $1 billion to $10 billion.

In a formal statement listed on their site Forever 21 claims they are not shutting down their operations. “Essentially this allows Forever 21 to continue to operate its stores as usual, while the Company takes positive steps to reorganize the business so we can return to profitability and refocus on delivering incredible styles and fashion you love for many years to come. This does NOT mean that we are going out of business – on the contrary, filing for bankruptcy protection is a deliberate and decisive step to put us on a successful track for the future.”

This new filing is just another name in the bucket of retailers who are hemorrhaging money. In August the iconic New York City store Barney’s filed for bankruptcy protection.

To prepare for the role of Bumpy Johnson in the Godfather of Harlem series, Forest says that aside from reading up on the street legend, he also got in touch with mobsters who worked with Bumpy back in the day.

When he was first approached to get involved in a series about Bumpy Johnson, Mr. Whitaker says that he originally only planned on producing it and said “I may not act in it.” But once he began reading the scripts he began warming up to the idea of being in it before eventually locking down the title role and according to him it was 18 years in the making.
